Antibiotics can really kill off all bacteria in our body. That’s why many people rely heavily in taking on certain antibiotics to treat serious infection and other illnesses. But when overused, prescription antibiotics can hamper the balance of good and bad bacteria and will weaken the immune system to make it more vulnerable to diseases.
This antibiotics overuse make you think to find the alternative… the natural antibiotics.
Today, I love to share what I’ve found at NaturalMothersNetwork. Rebecca Watkins posted an article that tackles four topical natural antibiotics that you can use in favor of synthetic antibiotic creams and are ideal to place in your family first aid kit. This trained aromatherapist and a London School of Aromatherapy graduate specifically mentioned manuka honey, lavender, tea tree oil and goldenseal root powder.
Manuka Honey – offers an antimicrobial, antibacterial and antiseptic compound that destroys germs, disinfects the wound and helps to heal broken skin.
Lavender oil – effective against many bacteria including those resistant to antibiotics such as MRSA and VRE (vancomycin-resistant Enterococcu), fungal infections as well as for pain relief.
Tea tree oil – has broad-spectrum in vitro antibacterial, antifungal and antiviral activity, according to a research group at The Marshall Centre for Infectious Diseases (University of Western Australia).
Goldenseal powder – is not only a natural antibiotic, but a digestive aid and an immune stimulant, contains berberine that has antimicrobial properties
