Detoxifying can be a healthy way to eliminate toxins and waste from the body for a refreshed and energetic feeling. I fell exactly the same way about colon cleansing. This can cause severe cramping, diarrhea and flatulence. I do not feel that anything that causes such severe symptoms can be healthy.

Some are learning to detoxify the Green Smoothie way. I think it is perfect. It gives me all the benefits of a detox, and still allows me all of the nutrition I need. I generally recommend a 3 day Green Smoothie detox, 4 times a year. However, I consume at least 2 Green Smoothies per day anyway, and I find that I really no longer need to detox.

We won’t go into the actual making of Green Smoothies here. There is tons of literature available for purchase, and many websites and blogs that deal exclusively with the subject. What I will tell you is that properly prepared, Green Smoothies offer nutrition that is so complete that you could live off them. You can even get the protein and healthy fats you need, from the veggies, fruits and super foods from which you make them.

Since you’re attempting to push unhealthy toxins out of your body, here are more tips we’ll add:

  • One of the best drinks for your health and appearance is Green Tea. It contains huge amounts of antioxidants and catechins that promote health and well-being. If beginning a green tea regimen, you should drink at least 6 to 10 cups per day. It can also be brewed double strength and added to Green Smoothies in place of water.
