Pain in Lower Left Abdomen Home Remedies

For homemade fresh ginger tea, peel the ginger root first. Next, grate or mince the ginger, add hot water, and strain the tea. You may want to add a twist to your plain ginger tea by adding a little honey and fresh lemon juice in it.

Peppermint Tea

Peppermint is a popular home remedy to calm our tummy. It helps get rid of bloating and gas in the intestines. To make peppermint tea, rip through the leaves of peppermint leaves and crush them a bit with your hands. Add the leaves into your cup and pour hot water. If fresh peppermint leaves are not available, commercial tea bags will do the trick.

Fennel and Caraway Seeds

These seeds can help expel gas from the intestines. Chew and swallow a teaspoon of fennel or caraway seeds to relieve spasms in the digestive tract. You can also take them in tea form by adding hot water to the crushed seeds.


The citric acid in lemon can stimulate digestion and is a good remedy for constipation and abdominal bloating. Try to drink warm lemon water first before going for laxatives. All you need to do is squeeze the lemon juice into a cup of warm water.


Yogurt contains good bacteria that help in the proper functioning of the intestines and stomach. Eat at least a cup of yogurt daily especially if you experience bloating and irritable bowel movement. However, you may do away with yogurt if you are suffering from lactose intolerance.

It pays to be mindful of the simple preventative measures to keep abdominal discomforts at bay. Here are some do’s and dont’s to keep in mind:

  1. Never ignore the urge to have a bowel movement. Develop regular bowel habits.
  2. Avoid carbonated beverages as they are known to cause intestinal gas.
  3. Eat slowly.
  4. Drink plenty of water each day.
  5. Lessen intake of fatty foods.
  6. Stop eating when you’re full, overeating can cause abdominal pain.
  7. Have a diet high in fiber
  8. Get some exercise to avoid feeling clogged up
